For more than 22 years, the Salt Lake Education Foundation has supported the students of the Salt Lake City School District in their endeavors to achieve academic success. Our long-term partnership with the Salt Lake City School District Board of Education has enabled us to become a robust organization with the capability to respond to the ever-changing challenges facing our students and their families. We are fortunate to have developed strong relationships with committed community partners, who provide not only financial and material assistance but volunteer support to our students and schools.

University Neighborhood Partners (UNP) is a department of the University of Utah founded in 2001 that seeks to combine resources from the university and the west side communities of Salt Lake City for reciprocal learning, action, and benefit. A primary focus for UNP is creating pathways to higher education. We accomplish this by bringing together higher education, community residents, and non-profit partners to collaboratively host programs that address complex problems using an approach that takes into account the entire family. This model of working with residents and community organizations, rather than becoming another service provider, increases the capacity of local non-profits to deliver services to more clients, increases their effectiveness by connecting service delivery with academic research, engages residents in issues affecting their communities, and strengthens the academic experience of both students and faculty by connecting study with practice.
